Percona-pmm backend and HA

Hey Folks, I managed to get percona-pmm working for Aurora instances, and had some questions about the postgres backend.

  1. Can that be changed or is postgresql or victoriametrics the only supported backend?
  2. If postgresql is the only supported option is there a way to make sure data is replicated to another instance, i.e. if I lose this node is there a way to failover to another instance to make sure I don’t lose the tool?

Thanks!

Hi @sgales,
Right now there is no option except backing up. But we are working on making it possible to have HA as soon as possible.

Thanks for the response. Given that its been a couple months since my last post, any updates here?

One of our team members is finishing up with being able to run the 3 main databases external to PMM (PostgreSQL, Victoriametrics, and clickhouse)…this allows them to be setup independent of the PMM container using their native HA configurations. There’s still work needed to get the grafana config changes out of sqllite db to the postgres db before we can go to the next step of offering something more HA like. So there is progress but nothing ready for prime-time yet.
