I’m using MySQL 5.7 and recently installed PMM monitoring to monitor database performance. My question is regarding the “Backup” option. The documentation states that, currently, backup functionality is only supported with S3 for MySQL. Is this indeed the case, and when can we expect support for backup through the PMM agent, for example?

I think you are misunderstanding the flow of backup. The backup does indeed work through the PMM agent installed on your database server. The agent runs PXB | xbcloud to send the backup from the DB server to S3.
