l am tring to configure mariadb backups on PMM. But l get some erros with that. l use S3 storage and already added it to Pmm. On mariadb server side l installed mariabackup. Can l use mariabackup utility to backup db to S3 on PMM? Does PMM support mariabackup? Or do l have to install xtrabackup for that? If l install xtrabackup is it possible to use it for mariadatabases? And last one what mysql db version (minimum) does Pmm support to backup with xtrabackup? l have mysql db version 5.7.42. Is it possible to config backup through PMM for this particular db?
PMM does not support mariabackup at the moment, similarly mariadb server versions > 10.3 may not be compatible with xtrabackup (see Xtrabackup compatiblity with Maria 10.x (x >=3) - #2 by CTutte).

MySQL 5.7 is currently supported by xtrabackup 2.4 (and yes, you should be able to use this with PMM - Supported setups for MySQL backups - Percona Monitoring and Management).
However, xtrabackup 2.4 is now EOL and you might want to upgrade your mysql server version to 8.0 which is compatible with xtrabackup 8.0

Thanks for your response. The versions of MariaDB that I added to my PMM are 5.5. Does this mean that I can’t use PMM to build up backups for these databases?

You will not be able to use PMM to backup MariaDB 5.5. MariaDB 5.5 died back in 2020, and along with it any supporting software. We highly recommend you upgrade to Percona Server MySQL 8.0 to maintain compatibility with the MySQL community, and to improve the security and performance of you database.
