replication from mysql 5.7 to mysql 5.6

hi, we’re in the process of testing our applications on mysql 5.7 (upgrading from mysql 5.6) in a replicated environment. is it possible to replicate from a mysql 5.7 instance to a mysql 5.6 instance?
