Percona Community Report — October 2025

Welcome to the Percona Community Report for October 2025!
This monthly summary highlights contributions, activity, and collaboration across GitHub, Jira, and the Percona Forum. Whether you’re submitting code, reporting bugs, or helping others in discussions, thank you for being part of the community.

GitHub

Percona’s product code is hosted on GitHub, where anyone from the community can contribute code, suggest improvements, or report bugs using GitHub Issues.

Here’s a quick look at what happened in October:

  • 21 contributors were active across 16 repositories

  • 13 pull requests were submitted, and 6 were merged

  • 28 contributors opened issues, reported bugs, or suggested enhancements in 8 repositories

Thanks to everyone whose contributions made it into the codebase — these six merged PRs will be part of upcoming releases:

Some PRs weren’t accepted — either because they were better suited for upstream projects (like MySQL Community) or needed further refinement.

Each repository includes a README and Contributing.md with contribution guidelines. While some use GitHub Issues, Percona’s main system for tracking development is Jira, located at http://perconadev.atlassian.net/. All GitHub issues are mirrored there, so feel free to submit directly to Jira — or use GitHub Issues if that’s easier.

Jira

Percona uses Jira as its main platform for tracking product development. If you spot a bug or have an idea for improvement, feel free to submit it there.

In October:

  • 11 contributors opened

  • 12 new issues

  • across 8 different projects

Thanks to everyone who participated!

Good First Issues in Jira

Jira also includes tasks that are great for new contributors. These are usually small, well-scoped issues that help you get familiar with the product and development process. They’re marked with the label good-first-issue.

In October, Michal Nosek created a new issue that’s ideal for onboarding:

  • PBM-1649pbm cleanup should support multiple backup profiles - Project: Percona Backup for MongoDB
