How long Xtrabackup's release cycle?

I’m sorry to post a similar question I posted past.
As first, we want to know when Xtrabackup 8.0.27-19 will come.

And this question will arise on every MySQL releases, so we also want to know general release cycle of Xtrabackup - to explain our system’s maintenance schedule to customers :wink:
Let me know how long Xtrabackup will come after MySQL release, it doesn’t matter as much as you can tell.

Hi,

Use Percona Server for MySQL and things will be simple for your customers as releases of Percona Server for MySQL and Percona Xtrabackup are aligned :slight_smile:

We begin our merge from Oracle MySQL to Percona Server and Percona XtraBackup on the day that Oracle releases their software and pushes their changes to github. We do not have any visibility into what Oracle is going to release or what the code will look like until the day of their release. This makes our release times unpredictable.

In the 8.0 series, you should always look to use the same version Percona XtraBackup as the server version.

Oracle regularly makes changes to the internal data dictionary or the InnoDB redo log format that makes older versions of XtraBackup 8.x incompatible or unable to backup and restore a version of MySQL or Percona Server that is newer. We typically aim to release as quickly as possible after Oracles release especially when there are known compatibility problems.

Oracle MySQL 8.0.27 at this point does not contain any known incompatibilities with Percona XtraBackup 8.0.26, therefore it is safe to use the –no-server-version-check option

Thank you for your answer. I understood unpredictablity and thanks for the attitude to release as quickly as possible.
And it hears good we can use ‘no-server-version-check’ option. We will discuss about maintenance schedule of our system - to wait xtrabackup’s release or to go forward with this option.

I think it is the simplest solution, but our primal customer orders MySQL community server as RDBMS.
I remember your information and will remind when I will scratch a new system.

I’m waiting for xtrabackup release.
In watching github repositry, it seems next release will come soon but doesn’t yet.
It seems stacking at “PXB-2676 Document page tracking feature in 8.0.27” - license cla pending.
Will xtrabackup new version be released in some days or weeks?
I’m sorry for adding that question, and I’m looking forward next xtrabackup release enthusiastically :wink:
