Podman is a daemonless container engine for developing, managing, and running Open Container Initiative (OCI) containers and container images on your Linux System. Originally developed by Red Hat® engineers along with the open source community. It is a preferred open source tool by developers running containers without Kubernetes or OpenShift Container Platform. Podman lets you run containers as a non-root user, so you never have to give a user root permission on the host. For more information on deploying PMM on Podman, see the documentation.
In PMM v2.29, we have announced Podman as a new PMM deployment option which is still in technical preview and is subject to change. The goal is to provide non-privileged users ability to create, run and manage containers with Podman deployment options which is far more secure.
