Can i extend the query information view in the QAN to see the full query?

sometimes when I’m monitoring a query in QAN the query isn’t fully displayed sometimes its cut and isn’t shown completely is there a way to make me see the full quey when I click on it?

Can you please show a screenshot example of this?

Hi @Ali
Can you tell us also the PMM Server version?

If you still see truncation on latest release (2.29 today hopefully) then this is probably a bug and we should file a ticket

@matthewb
included is a screenshot of what I mean

as u can see in the picture when hovering on the info of some query it is expected to see the full query that is taking a long time but for some reason, it doesn’t show it all, I’m not sure if there’s something that I’m missing in this regard.
@Michael_Coburn I’m using PMMVersion: 2.26.0

I just looked in my instance of 2.29.0 and I have many over 1000 characters without truncation…this example is less than 900?

Is it possible that the fingerprint for this query (and example) was created pre 2.19.0 and so even after upgrading to 2.26.0 the example hasn’t changed and remains the truncated one (you can tell I do not know the inner workings of QAN :blush: )

that could be a possibility, cause sometimes even fewer characters query truncates and doesn’t shoe the all query.

Hello @Michael_Coburn
I recreated the docker container of PMM with the latest version on docker hub and the same thing happened although there are different queries with more than 1800 characters and it shows it all there are some queries that are truncated I enclosed an example, don’t hate me cause it is mostly blurred :sweat_smile:

Hi @Ali

Interesting scenario. Did you also deploy latest pmm2-client i.e. 2.29 ? Because it is the CLIENT that is enforcing the truncation limit

I’ll check the pmm client and get back to you on this but it should be yes.
