How can I COMPLETELY UNINSTALL percona-xtradb-cluster-server-5.7 so I can reinstall MariaDB?

First of all, it is possible if you are on Ubuntu that you are running into an Ubuntu bug … here is the link for that, it looks like the fix may have been released - we have had a couple of reports of issues related to this.
