Guideline for migrating from Atlas cluster to Percona MongoDB

Hi there,

We’re exploring the option of migrating existing MongoDB clusters that are hosted in Atlas out of there. Is there a preferred and recommended approach for such migration so that it happens with Zero (preferably) or minimal downtime for production replicas?

Hi Dvarchev, zero downtime is not possible since Atlas does not expose the backend nodes, so we can’t add them to an external replica set. I suggest you reach out to our Solution Engineers to get more info about your scenario and come up with a good approach. You can do so here: Sales & General Inquiries - Percona

Thanks for the reply Ivan.
Does it matter if the clusters are private (connected with vpc peering / private endpoints) or it does not matter and the limitations apply for all clusters?

this limitation applies to all clusters unfortunately
