I would like to know if PBM supports Local PV, as I couldn’t find any related optionsin the official documentation. If PBM could support Local PV, it would allow mapping remote storage to the server using rclone, and then mapping it to PBM via Local PV.
Currently, rclone supports 64 different storage backends and has excellent compatibility with third-party S3 services, whereas PBM’s compatibility is relatively poor. Supporting Local PV in PBM could significantly enhance its storage capabilities.
I’ve looked through previous related threads on the forum. This topic has been raised before, but probably didn’t get much attention because there wasn’t a compelling reason. I believe my post provides a very reasonable justification: by using a simple local PV approach, compatibility can be greatly improved. I sincerely hope the official team will consider adopting it.
Hi @Lim_Les ,
thanks for posting your concern. In general ą local PV will not work. PBM requires that all Percona Server for MongoDB (PSMDB) nodes (and having PBM agent) in a Replica Set must be able to write to the same PV.
However, we support NFS - so maybe in your enviornment you can set up an NFS storage and mount it to each Kubernetes worker node and PSMDB/PBM pod. Here are some details:
