We need to perform physical backup and restore in order to setup new similar cluster.
Destination:
MongoDB - Percona : 5.0.28
PBM version: 2.6.0
OS: VERSION=“24.04.3 LTS (Noble Numbat)”
3 Shards (3 replica set each), mongos, and 3 config
Destination: where we are trying to restore: same replicaset name, similar architecture
Error:
2025-11-03T13:18:31Z I [rs/ip:port] [restore/2025-11-03T13:18:19.612399737Z] waiting for cluster
2025-11-03T13:19:01Z W [rs/ip:port] [agent Checkup] storage is not initialized

Most likely, you’ve not added a remote storage properly. PBM requires shared storage (all nodes need to see the same volume or bucket). Please check the steps to add a remote storage for more details.

We have three shards, Each individual shard is pointing to its own local volume as example below:

path: /dbbackups
That’s the problem - each RS member should have a mounted storage to the same remote destination.
Thank you! yes that was the issue, restored worked properly. Can you also help us to make restore fast, we have to restore around 15TB of data.
