First of all, there are no masters and slaves in Galera replication, all nodes are equal. You can write to any node, but it’s sometimes optimal to configure your application to write to a single node only at a time, while reading from all nodes. Galera replication can be called “virtually synchronous replication” - where a commit of your write transaction needs passing certification on all nodes, but the applying of the transaction happens independent on all nodes later.
