Hello all,
I am in the process of testing xtrabackup but I am a little confused as to what the difference between xtrabackup and innobackupex in 2.4. I thought I read that innobackupex will be going away in future releases. So my question is how would I do a point in time backup? I have gone through the xtrabackup documents and they reference innobackupex as the only way to do point in time unless I am missing something. which would mean I need to use innobackupex to take the full backup not xtrabackup. So is innobackupex going away or should I just use innobackupex even thought they seem to be almost the same now in 2.4?
Since is also in xtrabackup, and innobackupex is “just” a perl script wrapper for xtrabackup, I’d guess that their used of innobackupex was just a convenience.
Does it not work with xtrabackup?
