hello, first time poster here, I searched for this problem, did not find any previous topics. Hope this is the right section of the forum for this question.
I have just installed Debian 6.0.0 on my machine, and am trying to install:
percona-server-server-5.1_5.1.54-12.5-188.lenny_i386.deb
…from a terminal window. The Percona Client stuff installed OK, but for the above package I am getting:
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/percona-server-server-5.1_5.1.54-12. 5-188.lenny_i386.deb (–unpack):
trying to overwrite ‘/usr/share/mysql/dutch/errmsg.sys’, which is also in package mysql-server-core-5.1 5.1.49-3
configured to not write apport reports
dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)
I tried to chmod to 777 on the dutch dir, to no avail. When I try to install via the synaptic gui, I get a slightly different worded version of the error:
E: /var/cache/apt/archives/percona-server-server-5.1_5.1.54-12. 5-188.lenny_i386.deb: trying to overwrite ‘/usr/share/mysql/dutch/errmsg.sys’, which is also in package mysql-server-core-5.1 5.1.49-3
I did not install the mysql-server-core-5.1 5.1.49-3, and if I select to uninstall it, it gives me a list of lots of things that will also be removed, including the KDE desktop. So, I didn’t remove it.
Any help would be appreciated, and apologies again if I am committing any newbie errors with this post.
