TLDR; pgBackRest is not EOL. The project is archived and the Community is HEAVY in discussions, please give some time for a solution to be created.
Percona will be continuing support for pgBackrest. Quite what that means in terms of who the code maintainers are, and how many organizations will get together to do this has been the subject of a lot of conversations sice yesterday, and will take more than a day to work out. The immediate issue is making sure that there aren’t 10 forks of the codebase, each maintained by one person
