Percona Toolkit in two repositories with different version

Hi all,

just stumbled on a problem installing the newest version of percona-toolkit.
I knew from your website that there is a new release 3.7.0-2 out there.
I have percona-toolkit installed from your repositories and was wondering why I don’t get an update.

After some investigation I found out that the repository ‘tools’ has percona-toolkit in version 3.6 from where I installed it. And repository pt has the newest version.

Is there a reason that percona-toolkit is in two repositories with different versions?

Best regards
Andreas

Hi AndreasM,
Yes, we could see the same. However, pt repo should be used to install pt-toolkit. I have raised a documentation improvement for the same.

Hi Vinodh,

thank you for investigation and reply.

Is there a reason to have percona-toolkit in both repositories?

Best regards
Andreas

Hi @AndreasM ,
FYI, tools repository is deprecated and only pt should be used for pt-toolkit installation. Usually toolkit repo is updated only for the below ones:

  • pdps repo
  • pdpxc repo
  • pt repo

This is already communicated and you can check here - https://www.percona.com/blog/ensure-the-correct-repositories-are-enabled-for-percona-packages/ and https://www.percona.com/blog/important-update-streamlined-repository-management-for-improved-efficiency/
