Percona-release no longer works

I have installed mysql 8.0 percona server on amazon linux 2 many of times in the past. But today when I try and install the percona-release tool I get this error:

Loaded plugins: extras_suggestions, langpacks, priorities, update-motd
percona-release-latest.noarch.rpm | 20 kB 00:00:00
Examining /var/tmp/yum-root-435dAU/percona-release-latest.noarch.rpm: percona-release-1.0-27.noarch
/var/tmp/yum-root-435dAU/percona-release-latest.noarch.rpm: does not update installed package.
Error: Nothing to do

Not sure what happened here, is anyone else running into this type of problem?

did you followed the same, please check Installing Percona Toolkit — Percona Toolkit Documentation

It seems the package is already installed according to this error message.

Try running percona-release and see if it responds.

I am having the most Monday, Tuesday ever. I must have been on another server before I jumped to this one. Thanks for the quick reply.

please do not forget to enable correct repo
ps80 - for percona server for mysql
or
pdps-8.0 - percona distribution for mysql

what is the difference between percona server for mysql and percona distribution for mysql. Or are they the same thing?

@Anand_Siva

“percona distribution for mysql” is percona mysql + extra addons that we certify and support.

“percona server for mysql” is just percona mysql, nothing extra, just the base.
