Percona MySQL Master/Slave Replication breaking with SSL

I am running into a problem where the replication from the master to slave is breaking when I use SSL (certs created using OpenSSL). I came across this issue when I created a new slave machine with Percona MySQL server v5.5.44, while the master has v5.5.30. I downgraded the slave machine to v5.5.30 and now the replication is working fine with SSL.

I was wondering if anyone has had an issue with this as well and if this is a bug and a ticket needs to be created.
