Can percona cluster sync for mongodb be used to sync a source cluster which is a replicaset to a destination which is a sharded cluster (just like mongosync is able to do today )
Also, can the source and destination be psmdb clusters? I observed in the doc reference was only made to the source clusters being
Mongodb atlas and self managed Mongodb (assume managed by opsmanager) while destination was a psmdb cluster
Hello @Daniel_Osuntoyinbo , thanks for reaching out.
Currently you can sync RS to sharded cluster but collecitons on the sharded cluster will be synced as non-sharded collection. We have a task to support syncing RS to sharded with automatically sharding selected collections to the target, you can check it here Jira.
With that being said, currently what you can do is perform a sync from RS to sharded target and then on the target manually shard collections.
Yes, source and target clusters can both be PSMDB clusters, no limitation there. I’m gonna make sure to update our docs to make that clear.
