When the -w/--wait parameter is used to start the backup with the pbm backup -w command, if pbm-agent exits due to a crash or other reasons, bpm-cli will not respond but continue to wait for the backup to succeed.

Thank you for reporting this issue. I’m guessing that you are running PBM on the replicaset topology and therefore were able to see the issue immediately. As per the information, PBM will report the error correctly if you run it in the sharded cluster environment and the agent crashes on a specific shard.
