Newb lament : lost tables

For some inscrutable God design some tables have disappeared leaving only the .frm file, and as as a good boob newb I do not have the latest tables creation routine. Are the .frm files of any use to recreate the tables?

Also: I have a “c:\MySql Datafiles\ibdata1” with a date that could correspond to the latest I have used the database. There is no file ext. What is it? Could it help?

Are this InnoDB tables? If yes - then you should be able to access them. Try ‘show create table table_name’, replace table_name with your table name. If you can’t - please post an error.
