How to set up slave for replication in 6 simple steps with Percona Xtrabackup

In Step 4 of the manual, when I start the MySQL service on the slave, it fails with an error message: [B]

Database is hosted on Linux operating system.
I have added innodb_force_recovery=1 in the mysqld section in my.cnf and it did not start.
