Clean install of 8.0.22-13-1.focal Folder structure different

Hello,

I have many installations of percona 5.7 on various servers running 16.04. I am testing an switch to percona 8.0 and a os upgrade to 20.04 (focal)

I noticed that the folder structure in /etc/mysql has changed between the two versions

on 5.7 :

conf.d/

my.cnf → /etc/alternatives/my.cnf

my.cnf.fallback

my.cnf.old

percona-server.cnf

percona-server.conf.d/

But on 8.0:

conf.d/

my.cnf → /etc/alternatives/my.cnf

my.cnf.fallback

mysql.cnf

mysql.conf.d/

Is this change in folder structure an expected change? I did not see it in any of the changelogs

Os: ubuntu 16.04 and 20.04 using the percona apt repositories

Hi @jason_agility

Yes this change is expected and was done intentionally in order not to confuse anyone with different configuration files in upstream MySQL and in Percona Server for MySQL
