Hi all, i read about mysql backup via lvm snapshot.
Anybody use mysql backup via lvm snapshot? I read what i must use XFS file system to freeze mysql datadir & then create lvm snapshot. Anybody use LVM snapshot for mysql backup?
We use LVM for mysql backups and going to release our set of backup script to public soon. Our LVM backups approach is pretty simple:

[] You need to freeze your database modifications (FLUSH TABLES WITH READ LOCK)
[] Create lvm snapshot
[] FLUSH LOCK
[] Maybe, if you use replication, you may need to save information about your replication positions (SHOW SLAVE STATUS)
[*] Mount snapshot and save somewhere your datadir files Unmount and remove snapshot
[/LIST]
