PMM is based on metrics provided by exporters. But postgresql_exporter isn’t collecting any metric related to DB backups.
The crux of the problem is that PostgreSQL won’t have any information about backups. because backups are external to PostgreSQL database. So a “PostgreSQL monitoring” tool won’t have any information about backups.
Moreover, PostgreSQL community / ecosystem has a large number of the backup solution. at Percona we recommend pgBackRest, but other backup solutions are also equally good. The source of information is specific to each backup tool and its backup repository.
For example, pgBackRest can give information from its backup repository with its “info” command
