# Xtrabackup with the latest version does not prepare bkps made in the previous version?

Hi,

I made a backup using Xtrabackup version 8.4.0-1 but when I tried to prepare the backup in xtrabackup version 8.4.0-2 I received the error:

2025-02-09T11:07:15.429993-03:00 0 [ERROR] [MY-011825] [Xtrabackup] Failed to parse xtrabackup\_info from ‘./xtrabackup\_info’

Shouldn’t the newer version of the same relase be able to restore the backup?

Using the same version of the backup works perfectly.
