# Xtrabackup: File '/var/log/mysql/bin.00001' not found (OS errno 2 - No such file or directory) with remote xtrabackup

we are facing below error while performing xtrabackup remotely

2024-08-26T13:15:58.844738+05:30 0 [Note] [MY-011825] [Xtrabackup] Executing FLUSH NO\_WRITE\_TO\_BINLOG BINARY LOGS  
2024-08-26T13:15:58.846857+05:30 0 [Note] [MY-011825] [Xtrabackup] Selecting LSN and binary log position from p\_s.log\_status  
xtrabackup: File ‘/var/log/mysql/bin.00001’ not found (OS errno 2 - No such file or directory)  
2024-08-26T13:15:58.853544+05:30 0 [ERROR] [MY-011825] [Xtrabackup] copy\_file() failed.

The file was existed on the prd-perconatest011.pp.pp1, still facing same error  
command executed, it was executed from a remote backup server  
xtrabackup --backup --datadir=/var/lib/mysql/ --target-dir=/percona\_backup --host prd-perconatest011.pp.pp1 -u -p

Please let us know if you have to pass another options

You cannot use PXB remotely. PXB requires local disk access.
