# Renaming node and service

**Help!  
How to rename a host and services without an unregister operation? So as not to lose all the metric history for the host and its services.  
PMM version 3.5.0**

Hey @ANDiv1976,  
Unfortunately you’ll have to do some updates to the internal database to keep the metrics. See the linked post above for instructions. No guarantee it will work as this is an unsupported action.

Thank you for your help!  
We decided to do it as described here: [https://forums.percona.com/t/pmm-rename-node-service/30138](https://forums.percona.com/t/pmm-rename-node-service/30138)  
On the test environment, it showed that the old metrics remained under the old name. That works for us.
