# Percona server fails to restart/stop

Have just installed Percona server 5.6 and have not yet changed any settings in my.cnf, but when i try to restart or stop the server this error is returned

root@dyntest-amd-6000-8gb ~ # service mysql restart  
[FAIL] Stopping MySQL (Percona Server): mysqld failed!  
[ok] Starting MySQL (Percona Server) database server: mysqld already running.

There are no errors in the log (both files are empty)

/var/lib/mysql/dyntest-amd-6000-8gb.err  
/var/lib/mysql/mysql-error.log

How did you install it ? e.g. RPM, source ? If you are using on debian/ubuntu check in syslog too for any recorded errors. Also verify mysql error log file by following and check it too.
