Here, You **do not need to pay a license fee** to use the Percona Distribution for PostgreSQL. It is entirely open source and licensed under the PostgreSQL License.

This distribution is a collection of open-source software, tools, and services designed to deploy and manage a reliable PostgreSQL production cluster. It includes a native PostgreSQL server enhanced with community-certified open-source extensions tested for compatibility. These tools support high availability, backups, security, and monitoring to help maintain optimal cluster performance.

Additionally, Percona does **offer paid support** , consulting, and managed services — but:

- Those are **optional**.

- The software remains **free and open source**.

You only pay if you want **enterprise-grade production support** , **SLA-backed troubleshooting** , or **consulting services**.

Even Percona PostgreSQL distributions are fully compatible with the community PostgreSQL distribution, making it easy to migrate from the community to the Percona distribution without any headaches.

Hey @did16,

As Anup said, all Percona software is 100% free, and open-source. There is no licensing model at Percona; no such thing as “Enterprise”. You do not even have to be a customer of Percona to use our software; again open-source.
