We are trying to set up a mysql cluster with tomcat servers, mySQL database and an F5 in between. The cluster set up is master write/read and a pair of readers.
Does anyone have experience in setting up the F5 to handle this type of situation. We are using hybris eCommerce Suite on Tomcat.

I have used HAproxy +keepalived and it works fine for Percona Xtradb cluster . you can try that.
