Does XtraBackup avoid the problems of invalid views stopping backups (mysqldump)

Hi
I recently came across a problem with a database whereby the backup (mysqldump) was failing due to an invalid view. From what I can see and understand from the product documents, if I swapped all of our backups to XtraBackup, that this would no longer be an issue.
Currently on MySQL 5.1 but moving soon to 5.5, possibly MariaDB

Can anyone shed some light?

Cheers
Peter

XtraBackup does a binary backup (file copy), so in theory the bad view should not cause any issue for it. The problem would just exist on whatever server you load the backup on however, so I would try and fix the root cause of the issue at some point still. =)
